Undergraduate student researcher

Hiva joined Paul Wright’s lab in Summer 2011 as an undergraduate researcher working with Alic Chen on a research project in conjunction with Siemens AG. The project’s goal was to cool a high-powered LED, simulated with resistive heaters attached to an aluminum block, from 100 ºC down to the 50-60 ºC range.
Most of his time is split between finishing up his undergraduate mechanical engineering studies and wrapping up the research project (sending final deliverables and writing the paper), but regardless you can usually find him on the 4th floor of Sutardja Dai Hall.
Hiva enjoys weight lifting, running (not really, but it’s good for him so he does it anyway), reading, product design and development, rock climbing (indoor only still), all things engineering, and anything sci-fi.
